Welcome to the Prime Timers ABF!

Our class is held each Sunday from 10:10 am until 10:50 Everyone is welcome and we look forward to seeing you.

This is the Week!!!

The Prime Timers chicken is making a nest.

This week our chicken will get a name. The name and the prize winner will be announced this Sunday. The plucky pullet will be saved from the supermarket and continue its good work at the Prime Timers.

Entries will be accepted until class and Skip Maryan is the one to call or email with your suggestions.

The purpose of the chicken is to provide time at the beginning of the session for announcements of good news in your life that you want to share. The cost is $1 and at the end of the season we will donate the chicken's nest egg to a worthy cause. Skip's phone # and e-mail address are listed below, or you can click on his name above.

Fellowship before the session with coffee and donuts.

Skip Maryan prepares to teach the lesson.

We light a candle each week as a symbol of our continuing Christian faith and hope. In our current time, it especially signifies our hope and desire for peace in the Middle East. It is a reminder to us, and a small beacon to the world, that we never give up and we continue to pray for peace, knowing even this daunting task is possible with our omnipotent God.

The Lesson for this Sunday, Oct. 10 is titled "Re-creating a Community"

Key Verse:  Isaiah 43:1

Focus of the Lesson:  People often long for a sense of security and hope. Where can we find this? Isaiah says that God continues to reclaim and establish the covenant community.

The reading is Isaiah 43:1-2, 10-13, 18-19, this text is from the New International Version.

1 But now, this is what the LORD says-
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.

10 "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD ,
"and my servant whom I have chosen,
so that you may know and believe me
and understand that I am he.
Before me no god was formed,
nor will there be one after me.
11 I, even I, am the LORD ,
and apart from me there is no savior.
12 I have revealed and saved and proclaimed-
I, and not some foreign god among you.
You are my witnesses," declares the LORD , "that I am God.
13 Yes, and from ancient days I am he.
No one can deliver out of my hand.
When I act, who can reverse it?"

18 "Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland.
